Thank you for your interest in Cornerstone Schools of DC! We are a K-12 independent private Christian school committed to partnering with parents to bring out your student’s fullest academic and spiritual potential.

We look forward to getting to know you and your student(s) as you explore the best educational option for your children. Here are the steps to discover Cornerstone:

1) Complete our Inquiry Form

Click here to complete the inquiry form. This provides Cornerstone Admissions with the basic family information to help us best serve you.

2) Register for a Tour

Click here to schedule a visit at one of our designated tour times to meet school leaders, students, and teachers and experience the difference of a Cornerstone education. We will discuss school tuition assistance options during the tour.

3) Complete the Online Application

To complete the application, you will need:

  • For Kindergarten:

    • Contact name and email address for your student's preschool teacher/administrator

  • For Grades 1-6:

    • Contact name and email address for your student's classroom teacher and administrator

  • For Grades 7 and up:

    • Contact name and email addresses for your student's math and ELA teacher and administrator

  • Completed Cornerstone Records Release form

  • Credit card information to pay an application fee of $50 per child ($100 for families enrolling more than one child). DC Opportunity Scholarship families will be reimbursed at a later date by Serving Our Children.

  • For families who do not have DC OSP and need tuition assistance, the tuition assistance application must be completed prior to the family interview meeting. There is a $50 application fee.

Admission Deadlines: Cornerstone has rolling admissions and reviews student applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage families to apply at the earliest possible date.

4) Student Academic Placement Assessment and Shadow Day

When the application is completed and all school records are received, the Admissions Director will schedule an academic assessment unless a recent MAP is in the records. Additionally, 5th through 8th grade students will have a shadow day while high school students will complete a student application, interview and shadow day. Assessments and shadows are on the same day.

5) Family Interview Meeting

This meeting will be scheduled by the Admissions Director. When the assessment is completed, the Executive Director and relevant Principal(s) will meet with all parents, guardians or caregivers and any students in Grades 7-12 to build relationship, answer questions and discuss your application and tuition assistance as needed. The Director of Finance will be available to answer any financial questions.

6) Enrollment Decision

The Admissions Director will send an e-mail with a student’s admissions decision. To enroll a student, the parents will need to complete the online enrollment documents, sign the financial agreement, and create a FACTS payment account if not on OSP. Student is not enrolled until all these steps are completed.

Important Admissions Criteria

  • Our Kindergarten cutoff date is August 30, not September 30. We will rarely accept students with September birthdates into Kindergarten or First Grade.

  • Families with a DC Opportunity Scholarship (OSP) for their student follow the admissions process. OSP is not a guarantee of enrollment.

  • While we serve a wide range of students, as a small school, we are not equipped to effectively serve most students with an active IEP or who are below grade level.
